Angelica and John gossip about Ham

Well here’s some random fanfiction I wrote. It’s Hamilton, by the way. It has some Hamliza I guess, but the main thing is platonic Johngelica. That’s John Laurens and Angelica Schuyler by the way. This could be interpreted as romance, but I wrote it platonically. It’s a modern AU. Sea Otter told me to write one in which Angelica is mever satisfied and this happened. So…. that’s it! Enjoy!

Warning: overuse of the word “smirk.”

Angelica stood around alone at the dance with nothing to do. In an attempt to cure boredom, she watched Peggy stuff her face with food. She sighed. Why was she even here? “What’s a beautiful girl like you doing here alone?” she heard a voice say behind her. Angelica turned around to see a very handsome boy, smirking at her. She raised her eyebrows at him, but he just held out his hand as a slow song started, and she took it.
They danced and talked, their conversations easily flowing and words bouncing off the other’s. Suddenly the boy stopped dancing. “You strike me as a woman who has never been satisfied.” “I’m sure I don’t know what you mean, you forget yourself.” Smirking, the boy continued to speak. “You’re like me, I’m never satisfied.” Angelica couldn’t help but slowly smirk back at him. “Is that right?” “I have never been satisfied.” He leant down and kissed her hand, and Angelica felt like her breath was being taken away. “My name is Angelica Schuyler,” she added once she realized they hadn’t introduced themselves. “Alexander Hamilton,” the boy— Alex— said. “Where’s your family from?” She asked, noticing his distinct accent. Alex stepped back and fidgeted a little before recovering. “Unimportant, there’s a million things I haven’t done. But just you wait, just you wait.”
He walked away, smirking, as Angelica stared after him, her heart pounding, a strange feeling in her stomach. She thought about how easy their conversations had been, how they’d agreed on everything, how they had matched wits, as a huge grin spread on her face.

Angelica Schuyler was in love.

Sure, the boy was a bit of a flirt but she was willing to give it a chance. She excitedly scanned the crowd for Eliza, excited to tell her about this boy. But when she saw her sister, Eliza was staring at Alexander, her eyes helpless.

Angelica knew in that moment that Eliza had fallen in love, and she had to do anything to make her sister happy. Eliza walked over to Angelica, whispering in her ear. She pointed at Alex and smiled playfully. “This one’s mine.” Angelica tried to hide her pain and smirked at her sister, making her way over to Alex, who was talking to a freckled boy. Eliza was whisper-shouting, “What are you doing?? Come back!” Alex smirked at Angelica. “Look who’s back,” he said playfully. The freckled boy next to him looked kind of droopy, and Angelica wondered why, before dismissing it and grabbing Alex’s arm, leading him to Eliza. “Where are you taking me?” He asked, his eyebrows raised. Angelica smiled at him. “I’m about to change your life.” “Then by all means, lead the way.” Did she say a bit of a flirt? Sorry, she meant a huge flirt. Eliza had finally stopped blushing, and looked much more confident. “Elizabeth Schuyler.” She said. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Alex looked between Eliza and Angelica. “Schuyler?” “My sister,” Angelica said with a proud smile. “Thank you for all your service,” Eliza said, smiling at him. (Alex was widely known through the school for being part of the school “government” and winning in the national debate club for the school.) “If it takes going through high school for us to meet, it will have been worth it,” Alex bowed and kissed Eliza’s hand, just as he had with Angelica. Angelica felt slightly hurt, but that washed away when she saw how red her sister’s face was. She laughed and said, “I’ll leave you to it!” And walked away.
Angelica walked back over to the freckled boy from earlier, who was watching Alex and Eliza with what looked like a pained expression. She sat next to him. “Hey, I’m Angelica,” The boy looked at her. “I’m John,” he replied flatly. Angelica glanced at Alex and Eliza who were dancing and looked like they were enjoying. “You too, huh?” “What?” John sighed. “You like Alex too.” “I–what– too?” She stuttered out. John blushed. “Alex has that effect on pretty much everyone.” He frowned. “Including me, unfortunately.” Angelica looked at him in surprise. “You like him?” John just nodded. “I think it’s the eyes. Those are what grabbed my attention first.” He told her. Angelica nodded. “His smirk is also really…. endearing?” She added. The two talked for the whole night, and to Angelica’s surprise, John was actually very fun to talk to. She found herself laughing so hard she could barely breathe, and they both actually joked about everything. Angelica hadn’t felt the same as she did when talking to Alex, she hadn’t felt satisfied. But maybe for now, this was enough.
